Chinese Open Science Network


Chinese Open Science Network (COSN), a grass-root network for promoting open science practices and awareness of reproducibility in the Chinese-speaking community. COSN is one of the Community of Open Scholarship Grassroots Networks that aimed at promoting open science and changing the research culture globally. COSN is run by Early Career Researchers (ECRs) and for ECRs, especially for the next generation researchers.

GENG, Haiyang

Post-doc, The University of Hong Kong, China

Dr. Haiyang Geng is a postdoc researcher in Dr. Xiaoqing Hu's lab at The University of Hong Kong. His current research focuses on memory, decision and psychopathology (i.e. anxiety, depression and schizophrenia) by using computational modeling and advanced neuroimaging approaches. In 2012, Haiyang Geng obtained his bachelor degree in bioinformatics at Harbin Medical University. After that, tremendous interest and curiosity drive him to enter the field of cognitive neuroscience. During his master, he worked with Dr. Xuebing Li in the Institute of Psychology, Chinese Academy of Science on the topic of exploring neural mechanisms of anxiety. In 2015, he got his master degree in cognitive neuroscience. During 2015-2016, he worked with Dr. Shaozheng Qin at Beijing Normal University on modulation of stress, anxiety on working memory. During 2016-2020, he joined the Ph.D. program at the University of Groningen. During his Ph.D., Haiyang was supervised by prof. André Aleman and prof. Yue-Jia Luo. His Ph.D. research is to examine how disrupted prediction processes may contribute to a variety of psychiatric symptoms (i.e. anxiety, hallucination and apathy) by using multiple neuroimaging approaches including brain activation, connectivity (i.e. psychophysiological interaction (PPI)) and dynamic functional connectivity (i.e. sliding window, K-means and phase synchronization), graph theory (i.e. modularity analysis).

HU, Chuan-Peng

Associate Professor, Nanjing Normal University, China

Dr. Hu Chuan-Peng is an associate Professor at School of Psychology, Nanjing Normal University. After getting his Ph.D. degree at Tsinghua University, Beijing, China, in 2017, he worked as a postdoc at the Leibniz Institute for Resilience Research (LIR), Mainz, Germany until October, 2020. His research interest includes reproducibility, Bayesian hierarchical modelling, and social perceptual decision-making. He conducted a series of meta-researches to understand the research culture among Chinese researchers. Also, he is the first ambassador of the Center for Open Science in East Asia. He actively participated in large-scale international collaborative projects, e.g., Psychological Science Accelerator (PSA), Neuroimaging AnalysisReplication and Prediction Study (NARPS). He co-found the Chinese Association for Psychological & Brain Science (CAPBS), an association for Chinese researchers based in Europe. Please visit for more information.

JIN, Haiyang

Postdoctoral associate, New York University Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates

Dr. Haiyang Jin is a postdoctoral associate in Dr. Olivia Cheung's lab at the New York University Abu Dhabi. He obtained his Ph.D. in psychology at the University of Auckland, New Zealand, under the supervision of Prof. William G. Hayward, Assoc/Prof. Paul M. Corballis, and Assoc/Prof. Sam Schwarzkopf. He is interested in understanding face perception, holistic face processing, and vision sciences using psychophysics, EEG/ERP, fMRI, and eye-tracking. He is also a big fan of statistics, e.g., (generalized) linear mixed-effects modeling, Bayesian hierarchical modeling, and the "new statistics". Personal website:

JIN, Shuxian

PhD Candidate, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, the Netherlands

Shuxian Jin is a Ph.D. candidate in social psychology at the Department of Experimental and Applied Psychology, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. Her research interest focuses on situational influences on human cooperation and interdependence. She applies meta-analysis, survey and field study to understand (a) how structural features affect cooperation in social dilemmas, (b) conflicts of interest and the psychology of cooperation, and (c) daily interdependence and cooperation in different ecologies. During her Ph.D., she co-developed the Cooperation Databank (CoDa) - A machine-readable history of cooperation research to search and select studies for on-demand meta-analysis ( She is currently involved in the creation of a meta-analysis database of leadership studies. WANG, Qing (Vincent)

Postdoc Fellow, Montreal Neurological Institute, McGill University, Canada

Qing Wang is currently a postdoc fellow at Montreal Neurological Institute, McGill University. He has been working with Pedro A Valdés-Sosa on MEG/iEEG/EEG modeling and connectivity estimation during 2017-2019 at UESTC after he obtained his PhD degree from Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications. His main research interests lie in: 1) Open and reproducible data science; 2) Brain connectivity modeling and estimation; 3) MRI/MEG/iEEG/EEG modeling and processing; 4) Neuroinformatics; 5) Social Brain Hypothesis in morden electrical records. He is also interested in reproducible data science teaching (mentor for OHBM2018 Hackathon etc.). He is one of the main contributors to the tri-nationaal China-Cuba-Canada Project, and one of the original CONP (Canadian Open Neuroscience Platform) members.

WANG, Xindi

Postdoc Fellow, Montreal Neurological Institute, McGill University, Canada

Dr. Xindi Wang is a postdoc fellow at Montreal Neurological Institute (MNI). He is a code contributor and maintainer of GRETNA, REST, DPABI, and part of CIVET. During 2011-2018, he was supervised by Prof. Yufeng Zang and Prof. Yong He in the National Key Laboratory of Cognitive Neuroscience and Learning at Beijing Normal University and tried to explore differentiated hubs in structural human networks. After obtaining his PhD degree, he move to MNI and work with Prof. Alan Evans. His current research focuses on laminar-specific networks in the human brain by using BigBrain dataset. He is also interested in improving MR imaging preprocessing by using deep learning.

YANG, Jinbiao

Research Fellow, National University of Singapore, Singapore

Dr. Han Zhang is currently a research fellow at the Department of Biomedical Engineering, National University of Singapore. After getting her Ph.D. degree at Beijing Normal University, she joined the Laboratory for Medical Image Data Sciences in 2015. From 2016 to 2019, she also worked as a research fellow for the Growing Up in Singapore Towards healthy Outcomes (GUSTO) project at the Neurodevelopmental Research Center, Singapore Institute for Clinical Sciences. Her research is mainly on the brain and behavior development in children and adolescents. In particular, she is interested in the influencers of brain and behavior development, psychobiological resilience, as well as inter- and intra-individual variability.
